Biodiversity Conference Offsets Global Warming Impact
Through Carbon Offsets
Seattle, WA—November, 5 2007 The Washington Biodiversity Project Conference has purchased carbon offsets from Standard Carbon to mitigate for the impacts the conference has on global warming and greenhouse gas production. Global warming will severely impact biodiversity so the conference has taken a leadership position in promoting the purchase of carbon offsets to reduce their carbon footprint and global warming. Standard Carbon provided the credits from their suite of carbon offerings which range from Chicago Carbon Exchange credits, renewable energy credits, clean agriculture practices and industrial efficiency projects. The credits prevented 13 tons of carbon from being released into the atmosphere and canceled the carbon footprint or output of the conference resulting from attendee travel, heating and cooling the facility, food production and communication.
By purchasing carbon offsets the conference has paid for a reduction in green house gas production from different sources, equal to the amount of green house gas generated by the conference and the attendees. Standard Carbon provided the offsets to the conference and purchased them from the Iowa Farm Bureau who paid farmers to plant trees and change their farming practices to lock more carbon into the soil.
Standard Carbon LLC is a leader in the marketplace for carbon offsets to fight climate change offering certification for individuals, businesses, events, and political campaigns to become carbon neutral. Greenhouse gasses can be canceled for less than one penny for every mile of travel—making it simple and affordable for individuals and organizations to “go green.” As an active member of the prestigious Chicago Climate Exchange, Standard Carbon has multiple offset projects in the development stage, including renewable energy, methane capture, and clean agriculture
