League of Conservation Voters Auction is Carbon Neutral thanks to Standard Carbon LLC
Seattle—January 11, 2008— Standard Carbon has provided enough carbon credits to make the 9th annual King County Conservation Voters Dinner and Auction carbon neutral. Working with event Coordinator Jen Bredeson and Montero Productions, Standard Carbon Calculated the green house gas emissions from the event to be over 6,000 lbs.
This is the first year that the Washington Conservation Voters event will be Carbon Neutral. Standard Carbon Vice President Angela Shea is pleased that the Conservation Voters have Chosen Standard Carbon as an environmental partner for their event. “Our program for Local, State and Congressional races to be carbon neutral is the leading way for political campaigns to be carbon neutral in this country. We appreciate the work that the League of Conservation Voters and their local chapters have done to make the environment a top tier issue in this years election.”
When calculating the carbon footprint of the event, Standard Carbon considered the climate changing impact of Transportation, Food Preparation, and the electricity needed by the Fischer Pavilion to host the event. Carbon offsets created through an Iowa Farm Bureau soil conservation program and registered on the Chicago Climate Exchange were used to make the event carbon neutral. Every carbon offset used by Standard Carbon must be documented and verified by a neutral third party before it can be registered on the Chicago Climate Exchange. The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) audits the Exchange to insure that each transaction occurs.
