Offset Provider
Standard Carbon sells the highest quality carbon offsets available on the voluntary marketplace. We work with our customers to select projects that will have the most environmental value, and best price. Credible offsets come from projects around the world and are certified according to either UNFCCC Clean Development Mechanism standards (CDM) or the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX).
Aggregated projects held by Standard Carbon can be purchased for CCX compliance or retired on a voluntary basis. CDM verified credits from international projects are retired on behalf of voluntary US buyers because the Kyoto Protocols are not ratified in the United States.
If your corporate social responsibility goals include offsetting green house gas emissions, or if you interested in offsetting the emissions generated by a product or event, please contact us directly and we can help you achieve your reduction.
About Emissions Offsets
Greenhouse gas offsets represent an intentional emissions reduction or sequestration and are calculated in metric tons of CO2 equivalent. The most credible offsets are traded on international commodity exchanges for legal compliance within cap and trade markets. However, though traded as a commodity offsets are not all the same.
There is variety in the way carbon offsets are generated and for voluntary buyers this provides a significant upside to support the highest quality projects. Three factors should be considered when selecting a project:
Verification
Third party verified according to international standards
Additionality
Clear evidence that green house gasses are reduced intentionally and beyond what is required by law or "business as usual" practices
Sustainability
Premium offset projects contribute to development that is environmentally and economically sustainable
Standard Carbon will work with you to select projects that have already passed the most rigorous scientific and political scrutiny. Please contact us to get started.
What We Do Not Sell
We are committed to the highest international standards for offset. For this reason, we do not sell the following:
- RECs, "Renewable Energy Credits" Though well intended, these credits do not meet our criteria for strong additionality
- Unverified tree planting. Standard Carbon only sells offsets generated by verified tree planting that has been registered and verified according to CDM, CCX or US Department of Energy 1605(b) standards
